Hey Spring what took you so long? Not sure where you and I apologize if the weather had not warmed up for you, but Spring is finally here in the Northeast! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am. I’m not even going to complain about the fact that my allergies have kicked in. I’m currently sitting here with a runny nose and itchy eyes and I don’t care because its so beautiful out.
Dress Season
Now that the weather is warming up that means dress season! Yes people that means you need to get a pedicure and start exposing those pasty white limbs. I know, I know that first time you go outside in a dress can be anxiety inducing but trust me it’s worth it.
A Simple Style Goes a Long Way
Now that the weather has arrived I am making/shopping all the pretty dresses. This little green eyelet number is my new favorite pattern. It has a simple silhouette that looks good on anyone (thank you a-line style) and it can be designed and hacked a million different ways.
Not only did I make this cute green dress, but I used the same pattern to make my Pink and Black Striped Dress, using Vogue 9344. I love the fact that I was able to make two completely different dresses with the same pattern. It just goes to show that a simple style can go a long way.
Inspiration
I got the inspiration for this dress from this photo. As a side note this woman is Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert. She has amazing style! She worked as a fashion editor for Italian Vogue and is the Creative Director for Swarovski Professional. I mean talk about #fashiongoals. If you don’t believe me check out her Instagram.
Don’t quote me on this but I believe the dress she is wearing is made by Valentino, and it made of lace. Now since I am not going to run out an buy myself a Valentino dress I figured I would make something similar.
Initially I was going to put sleeves on the dress but by the time I made it the weather was starting to warm up and I thought I wouldn’t wear it that much. It’s also eyelet so I figured I’d go sleeveless.
I decided to add the navy & red trim when I saw this dress. Obviously mine looks different, but you get the idea.
Fabric and Pattern
The fabric for this came from Joann, and I mentioned above the pattern is Vogue 9344. It was an easy project to make and didn’t take long. I purchased the trim on Etsy and decided to the make the matching belt removable.
Shopping Options
There are so many great options to shop below. I also like this one from J Crew.
Thanks for reading. Hope you are off to a good week.
