We recently moved to a larger house, 2 doors down the street from our old house. Yes, that’s right, two doors down. You would think since we were so close the move would have been easy. Unfortunately, it ended up being more of a hassle than I thought. Mostly because at the end of the day you still need to pack everything you own and move it.
One of the many upsides to moving into our new place is that the house has a front porch. I have never lived in a house with a front porch before, but in the 4 months that we have lived here, I have sat out there as much as the weather has allowed.
As soon as we bought the house, I told my husband we had to buy a porch swing. He wasn’t convinced at first, but now that we have it, I think he sits on it more than anyone else #alwayslistentoyourwife. We bought this swing from Ballard Designs. It’s called the Sunday Porch Swing and for good reason. I could very easily spend an entire Sunday lounging on this thing. It’s also wide enough to lay down on which makes it even more inviting.
The only upholstery option it comes in is cream. Even though it’s really comfortable, we realized after we hung it up it looked a little blah. So of course, I thought I need to recover the pillows. That will give it some personality.
We purchased some other outdoor furniture and the upholstery is blue, so I started looking for something that would complement the color. I started hunting around online and I came across this! I almost fell out of my chair. My favorite fabric now comes in blue! If you don’t already know, I have this thing with palm print fabric. You can read about it here. Of course, I immediately bought more yards than I want to admit, but look at how great the blue palm print pillows turned out!
They completely change the look of the swing! I have been feverishly searching the web in the hopes of finding more colorways of my favorite fabric, but so far, no luck. If you see my beloved palm print fabric in another color please let me know!
The swing didn’t come with a cushion for the back. I’m going cover two old euro square pillows so they match the smaller blue palm print pillows. Keep an eye for the post. I’ll include a tutorial on how to make your own pillow covers. In the meantime you can shop similar items below.
Thanks for reading hope you are off to a good week!
