December Book List – The Holiday Rom Com

For those of you who don’t know, I love to read. I mean I really love to read. I am a self proclaimed book nerd. When I get into a really good book I tend to ignore my family. Don’t worry they are used to it by now. I have tried to compile a monthly book list, and I sort of got side tracked. However, I am going to do my best to be consistent this year. Let’s call it a NY resolution. Because everyone is good at sticking to those right? I hit the holiday rom com genre HARD this year, so that’s what you will find on December book list.

All but one of the 10 books on the list are about finding romance around the holidays. Some were funny, some heartbreaking but with a HEA (happily ever after), and some that just give you all the good holiday feels. Oh, and some had a little spice for good measure. Check out the list below.

If your looking for more books reviews check out more of my books lists below.

December Book List – The Funny Ones

These two books weren’t comedies per se, but there was a lot of sarcasm and some ridicules immature humor that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The Plight Before Christmas – Kate Stewart

Sweet second chance romance between two former college sweethearts. When Whitney’s brother invites a friend to join her family for Christmas it turns to to be non other that Eli the man who broke her heart 20 years ago. It’s a story of will they won’t they filled family, humor, heartbreak and love.

The Christmas Fix – Lucy Score

This is a funny spicy rom com about an over the top home renovation reality star and a buttoned up single dad who is the Town Manager of Merry, Connecticut. It’s a month before Christmas and the town has been ravaged by flood. The annual Christmas festival is in jeopardy of not happening, unless Cat a Noah can put their differences aside and keep their hands off each other long enough to pull off a Christmas miracle.

December Book List – Heartbreaking but with a HEA (happily ever after)

While I really enjoyed everything I read this month I think these two were my favorites.

This Christmas – Emma Heatherington – Rose and Charlie have each come to a small Irish town to get away form all things Christmas. Both have lost something valuable and are struggling to move forward especially during the most wonderful time of the year. They both want solitude and quiet to try and deal with what they have lost. However, they unknowingly have both booked the same holiday cottage. With Rose’s car broken and unable to be repaired before Christmas the two strangers agree to share the cottage.

Thirty Days in Paris – Veronica Henry

This was close second to This Christmas!

A second chance love story in the City of Lights. What more could you ask for?! Juliette moved to Paris when she was twenty-one. Just as she was beginning to make friends and fall in love with the handsome Oliver, circumstances beyond her control forced her back to London. It’s been thirty years and a Juliette now newly divorced and an empty nester decided to return to the city of lights to reconcile her past.

December Book List – British Romances

These next two are by the same author and I recommend reading them in order. Two sweet British Christmas romances, about a pair of friends who work at the fictional London Opera House

Covent Garden In the Snow – Jules Wake

Tilly works in the Wig and Hair department of the London Opera House. Marcus, the new IT manager, is tasked with updating all the departments with new computers and online organizational systems. While she does her best to avoid rude and condesending Marcus, she can’t help but find him attractive. When a crisis arrises that could cost Tilly her job Marcus is there to help sort out her problems.

Notting Hill in the Snow – Jules Wake

December Book List – Some Holiday Spice

These are fun 2nd chance romances with some spice thrown in! Like, Covent Garden in the Snow and Notting Hill in the Snow, the first two books on this list you should read these in order. They are both second, chance over 40 holiday romances.

Scrooge-ish – L.B. Dunbar

Eva hates Christmas. It reminds her of her parents divorce and the mother who abandoned her. The last thing she wants to do is go to her high school reunion. At the prodding of a co-worker she decides to stop by for one drink. That’s when she bumps into her high school flame Zebb. Eva and Zebb still have feelings for each other. However, Eva doesn’t believe Zebb, the former NFL Quarterback turned fireman’s, intentions are for real. Not until she meets his sweet disabled daughter. Can Zebb melt this Eva’s cold heart and mark her believe in Christmas miracles?

Naughty-ish – L.B. Dunbar – Holiday has just finalized her divorce from her jerk of a husband and is trying to get through the holiday on her own without disappointing her kids. Enter her hot next door neighbor Nick the fireman. Nick attempts to help Holiday get back into the spirt of things by helping her with her Christmas to do list, and being a little naughty along the way.

The Wild Card

This isn’t a holiday rom com so I’m calling this the wild card.

Signal Moon – Kate Quinn

This is for all of you Kate Quinn fans. For those of you who haven’t read Kate Quinn start by purchasing The Alice Network and you will immediately fall in love with her books. She writes WWII historical fiction with amazing female characters.

Signal Moon is a short story about Lily Banes who works intercepting Germany navel communications in London during WWII. One night she receives a distress call from an American ship being attacked in the North Atlantic sea. The US radio officer communicating with Lily is Matt Jackson. Matt tells Lily that is 2023 not 1942. Through some sort of wrinkle in time, Matt and Lily need to find a way to save Matt’s ship and give Lily hope that the Allies will win the war.

Considering how short this story is it packs an emotional punch! Was crying by the end. Definitely put this on your TBR list. You can finish it in about 2hrs. Give it a read you won’t regret it.
