Ah Spring has finally started to make an appearance here on the east coast. The Cherry Blossom tree in my front yard it just starting to bud and it makes me VERY happy. Easter is on its way and I wanted to share an Easter table setting. Last week I wrote a post about making narrow hem napkins for my Passover table setting. This time I thought I would make a different style napkin. So, This week I am sharing these DIY mitered corner napkins.
This is what the finished edges of the napkin look like. After researching how to make the narrow hem napkins, I sort of fell down the rabbit hole of napkin making. There are so many ways to sew dinner napkins, not to mention cocktail napkins, table runners, place mats…all kinds of table top items. You can get really creative with your napkins depending on your choice of fabric. Of course I chose to make my Easter napkins out of my beloved Tommy Bahama Palm Print fabric. I would stick to cotton or linen for your napkins, as it washes the best and gives you a gazillion pattern and color options!
Originally, I was going to make these napkins with a narrow hem like I did here. I made one and then decided I wanted to change it up. I think it needs some contrasting thread, maybe pink or white, I think the green is too dark. They both turned out great, but the mitered hem looks more finished. It’s just a matter of preference. I will do a tutorial about how to make diy mitered corner napkins soon, but today I wanted to talk the table setting.
It is no secret that I have a love affair with palm print everything. You can see my palm print skirt here and my outdoor pillows here. I went with a pink and green color scheme for the table setting. The tablecloth is some pink fabric I have in my sewing bin. The plates are from target (and they are plastic by the way) and the placemat and silverware are from Amazon. I love the silverware. I have a pink set as well. There are similar options below in case you are in need of a palm print themed table.
Row 1: Pink & Green Napkins // White Silverware // Fern Napkins // Pink Blue & Green Napkins
Row 2: Green Plates // Pink Tablecloth // Green Plates // Palm Leaf Chargers
Thanks for reading! For those who celebrate I hope you have a great Easter!
