Do you ever feel like to you need to change it up? Yep, me too. Most of the posts you’ll find here at Roxbury Place are sewing related. Either clothing or handbags is what I enjoy making the most. However, sometimes you need to change gears and try something a little different. This week I have a tutorial that will show you how to make the simplest acrylic statement earrings.
Almost everything I used in this tutorial I bought from Etsy. Do you shop at Etsy? I never did until I opened my shop in 2014. I may have had a pre-conceived notion that it wasn’t for me, but boy was I wrong. You can seriously find just about anything on Etsy. Crafting, clothing, artwork, fabric, stationary…this list goes on and on. Whenever I am looking for something craft related, Etsy is my first stop. If I can’t find it there is doesn’t exist, and who doesn’t love supporting small businesses?
However, I have a problem. I enjoy trolling Etsy…a lot, just for fun. I love looking around the site even when I’m not searching for anything in particular. That’s how I came across these very cool acrylic earring findings. Acrylic earrings seem to be a big trend this fall, so I am seeing them everywhere. After searching longer than I’d like to admit (because there is so much to choose from), I decided on three different styles. This one, this one, and this one.
Even if you are not into making things and have never made earrings I assure you, you can do this. Read on to see how to make the simplest acrylic earrings ever.
Materials
Acrylic earring findings – I used these, these and these
Flat back beads – I used these and these
Earring posts with closed loop – I used these but in my opinion they are pricey. I just purchased these for another earring tutorial I have coming up.
Jump rings various sizes – I purchased mine here
Round brass spacer beads 3mm – also here
Flat nose pliers – I recommend 2 pair
E6000 craft glue
Instructions
After you have decided on the design of your earring glue the flat back beads to the earring post and let dry overnight.
Next using your flat nose pliers, open the jump ring and insert it through the hole in the earring finding and the loop in the earring post.
Close up the jump ring and you are done!
Follow the same instructions for the black multicolored earrings. This is what they look like when finished.
*For the tortoise earrings, I added two small brass spacer beads on either side of the finding. After I took the pictures, I also decided to add another small jump ring so the earring would sit forward instead of sideways.
Did I lie? Is this not the easiest tutorial about how to make the simplest acrylic statement earrings? If you end up making some earrings of your own please let me know in the comments below. I would love to see your creations!
If you’re not convinced that it is quick and easy to make these earrings, that’s okay. You can shop similar styles below.
